Joining foodsharing Kenya as a business is simple, flexible, and impactful. We work with businesses to rescue surplus food and ensure it reaches communities instead of going to waste. Our approach is designed to be reliable and adaptable, allowing us to coordinate pickups based on your schedule, including short-notice collections when needed.
Foodsharing Kenya is a growing initiative, with an expanding network of volunteers and partners working together to reduce food waste and support communities. As our capacity continues to grow, we are able to handle different quantities of surplus food and respond to the needs of businesses across various sectors.
You can explore some of our current and past partners here. More information about the broader foodsharing model and how businesses benefit from participation can also be found here.
Do you have any further questions about a collaboration with us? You can find answers to frequently asked questions here in our FAQ.
Unlike many other organizations, foodsharing is completely flexible. We rescue food every day and at any time. We're also active on Sundays and public holidays. We'll work around your schedule. Even spontaneous and larger pickups are no problem.
We will take all food items that are still edible. This includes refrigerated foods, goods past their best-before date, damaged packaging, and alcohol.
Furthermore, foodsharing offers a takeaway guarantee: We will take ALL still edible food. It doesn't matter how large the quantity is. Even a very large amount of a single food item won't deter us.
We sort out any food that is no longer edible on site. This includes food that is past its use-by date or is moldy. When disposing of it at your location, we naturally adhere to the proper waste separation guidelines.
During our rescues, we also frequently encounter non-food items. These include plants, potting soil, pet food, perfume, etc. We are happy to take these items with us, so please feel free to offer them to us. However, our guarantee to take them only applies to food items. We cannot guarantee that we will take all non-food items.
Absolutely! Experience has shown that other organizations can't pick up donations every day (e.g., on weekends). Sometimes, not all categories of goods can be taken either. Therefore, we are happy to make additional pick-ups alongside other organizations.
It is important to us, however, that we do not "take anything away" from the other organizations. We only want to pick up supplies if the other organizations cannot come or have already been provided for.
At foodsharing, we only enter into new partnerships if the top decision-makers agree. For us, any company with four or more branches counts as a "chain." In these cases, the chain's headquarters must have given its approval for a partnership with foodsharing. Only then can we begin rescuing food.
Unfortunately, negotiations with large chains can drag on for several years. We therefore ask for your understanding if we are unable to enter into certain partnerships. Please feel free to contact us anyway. We will then inform you whether a partnership is currently possible.
If you are dissatisfied, please do not hesitate to contact us immediately. Together we will find solutions to every problem. When you enter into a partnership with us, you will be given the names of up to three responsible individuals. You can contact these people in any case. If you are unable to reach anyone, please contact us via email.
Please make a note of the days when pickups didn't go as planned. Every pickup is recorded in our system. This information allows us to investigate any issues. Without it, however, it would be difficult to work effectively with so many food savers in Nairobi. Nevertheless, we always strive to find solutions. Partnering with us is always worthwhile.
