Motivation

At Foodsharing Kenya, we are deeply inspired by the global FoodSharing movement — a powerful community effort that rescues surplus food and redistributes it to those in need. This inspiring model showed us that food waste and hunger can be tackled hand in hand, creating lasting impact.

Our journey began through Empowered Dreams Initiative, where we witnessed firsthand the struggles families in Korogocho face every day to access enough nutritious food. The urgent need to do more motivated us to scale up and formalize our work by launching Foodsharing Kenya.

We believe that no food should go to waste when so many Kenyans go hungry. Our mission is driven by compassion, community, and the conviction that everyone deserves access to healthy, sufficient food — regardless of their circumstances..

By combining food rescue, education, and community empowerment, we aim to build a Kenya where hunger is a thing of the past, and where surplus food fuels hope and opportunity.
