At FoodSharing Kenya, we are passionate about creating a hunger-free, waste-free Kenya by rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to those who need it most. We believe every meal counts — no good food should go to waste while millions struggle with food insecurity.
Our work combines innovative food rescue, community feeding, education, and partnerships to tackle both hunger and food waste. Here’s how we make an impact:
We collect safe, surplus food from supermarkets, restaurants, farms, and events that would otherwise be discarded. This food is carefully sorted and promptly delivered to vulnerable communities, schools, and individuals across Nairobi and beyond.
Through our University FoodSharing Booths and Student Meal Support Initiative, we provide free rescued meals to university and high school students facing meal insecurity, especially during exams and high-stress periods. This enables students to focus on their education without worrying about where their next meal will come from.
We partner with public and community schools to provide rescued food and nutritional support, ensuring children can learn on a full stomach. Our Community Feeding Programs regularly serve low-income families, mothers, seniors, and children in informal settlements, helping to alleviate hunger and improve health.
Targeting some of the most vulnerable members of our communities, we provide essential nutrition support to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and infants. This helps promote healthy pregnancies and early childhood development.
We deliver training and awareness campaigns in schools, universities, and communities to promote sustainable food practices, food safety, nutrition, and budgeting. Our aim is to foster a culture of zero food waste and environmental responsibility throughout Kenya.
In collaboration with health partners, we assist individuals managing diet-related conditions by providing safe, nutritious rescued food tailored to their health needs. This approach helps improve patient outcomes while reducing food waste.
